Message from the President

Club Members,

Over the past few days I have been asked what the latest Rio news will mean to our beloved club.

After some quiet time to reflect I thought I would take the time to put some thoughts in writing.

Firstly thanks to the great work of some very proactive previous committees over a long period we as a club are in a very fortunate position both with membership numbers and financially.

Whilst I am in no doubt a reduction in the towns population will have some effect on our club and sadly many of our current members may have to move on.

I am confident that we will be able to continue to provide our core responsibility namely providing safe aquatic activities such as patrolling our beaches and conducting a nippers program all be it on reduced numbers.

Our other focus is of course the Bar and club.  In these trying times the people of this great town will still require somewhere to continue to go and socialise and maybe forget their problems for a little while and what better place to do that than Australia's Top Surf Club.

Whilst I cannot promise that we will continue to provide all of our current services I think that by working with our members we can continue to provide a great service.

In order for us to survive and prosper it will require the club to maintain a strong membership  base and also have members willing to put their hands up to sit on committees and help out as required.

Whilst it is my duty as President to ensure the viability of our club, I feel it is just as important for us a club to assist other likewise clubs. This can be as simple as becoming members of these other clubs or helping them out by having a meal or a drink  there every now and then.

I am confident that all the clubs in town will be able to work together to ensure that we share the love and all our fantastic clubs survive.

Fortunately there are no immediate actions required by most of our members but please remember we have an AGM around March next year and we must achieve a strong and effective committee to remain viable.

I look forward to working with all of our members in the year to come and with some hard work and unity we will get through this unstable period.
